View Full Version : Equifax now charging $70 for 4 reports + scores per year

Christine
For $70 you get:

"Access to Score Power® -- your Equifax Credit Report™
and FICO® score -- up to four times per year (includes FREE trial period)."

That brings the cost of the report + score to $17.50 each!

Obviously, just go for the FREE trial unless you intend to sue for you $$$ back. Teach them where it hurts, don't pay. Use Experian to monitor your reports and disputes if at all possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if this had to do with Fair Isaac not appreciating the fact that people can prove how their scores are calculated by fraudware.

Existing subscribers aren't affected by this change. I'd like to see how this monitoring service is going to work.

It seems that Equifax's notification system works only intermittent. Clients had inquiries and NO notifications. What do you get when they notify you? How is the notification useful when you can't look at your report?

Is the intent of the notification to get you to buy another report?

DISPUTE DISPUTE DISPUTE! That'll get you free reports. Dispute anything that's missing or incorrect, dates, balances ... Use the FAX!

Especially if you have a Cap One, Target, or other account without the credit LIMIT, dispute until they either add the limit or refuse to investigate. In that case sue. You'll have an EXCELLENT case. Make sure you include your request for lifetime free unlimited online access in your suit.

DISPUTE DISPUTE DISPUTE!

It's easy, and it's free.

Don't know how I could forget to mention:

Do NOT order the Equifax tri-merged report.

It's as useless as it could possibly be. Two clients had ordered it - there is absolutely NO way I can use that report for anything.

It doesn't even have the DLA - has only about 30% of the "real" reports' data.

Do NOT waste your money on this crap, if you did, demand a refund!

If you are assigned to a CSC afilliate office, do the faxes that you send to EFX get forwarded on to CSC I wonder???

Christine
They have to. Equifax is the name on the report the creditors use. That's whe it is your right to dispute with Equifax and they have to investigate or forward to the local affiliate.

Currently that seems to not have happened for one of my clients, no disputes are showing up.

Do you think this new BS has anything to do with the bumpage factor?

CRBKiller
It is the bumpage factor. Equifax's computer system can't handle the high number of inquiries. I have called Credit Watch tech support and discussed the fact with them. Here is what they told me.

If you check your credit report frequently, it will fill up your file and finally generate an error that won't let you view your report. At that point, they have to get Equifax or CSC on the phone to remove the soft inquiries that are generated by Credit Watch.

I think it used to be that way. Now it just keeps removing inquiries oldest first to make more room, and possibly remove positive accounts that haven't been updated by the creditor in a while. I have seen my inquiries dropping off which is pretty cool.

I agree, that the new offering sucks. 4 times a year at $70! Even the Credit Watch tech support lady thought it was stupid.

If anyone could PROVE what they say about deleting credit lines due to lack of space, that would be one hell of a law suit.
