View Full Version : Collection Vs. FICO Score

MrMoonlight
I recently paid off a hospital bill that went to collections. The collection appeared on my credit report with a balance, but now shows as Paid with a zero balance. Will the change to a zero balance on the collection raise my FICO score? If so, how much? When the collection is removed (or falls off) of my credit report, how much will THAT raise my FICO score?

Christine
The only way to find out for sure is to monitor your scores with CreditWatch (Equifax)

How the collection effects your scores depends on how it is reported as well as on the rest of your credit.

I had 2 items (collections) removed from Experian and Equifax and was told my credit scores will go up by 60 points, is that true?

Maybe, if they were your only collections and you had no other derogs and they were pretty new.
