We were so thrilled to get the "Notice of Lien Withdrawal," but when it was deleted, the score didn't change at all.
My client still has a newer judgment, so apparently liens and judgments are in the same category for scores.
Bummer!

i underpaid my state of taxxachusetts income tax by $76.75 for year 2001. for a brief time, my FICO scores were hit for about 45 points until i discovered the error, and the tacks folks were good enough to delete it once my check cleared. my tax consultant also calculated my federal payment too high, and the IRS sent me this silly letter of apology along with my $77.15 refund check. my tax paperwork is very complex, and finished returns with schedules and all the other superflous material sometimes approaches 200 pages, so i give the guy who does it for me alot of credit-- better that than to make a mistake doing it myself and getting audited.
it is important to understand that a tax lien represents a taxing entity's claim that you owe back taxes, or may be an allegation of failure to file or pay what you owe when you owe it. i got behind in 1981, and ended up calculating penalties and interest at 51%, annualized. interest is interest, and if you owe a legitimate debt, so be it. "penalty" is the tax industry's term for usurious interest, legalized theft, call it what you may, only loan sharks and the IRS charge 51% interest, with the former folks going off to jail if they get caught. some states also seem to allow auto titles loans at rates even more ridiculous, again price-gouging a base of low- income consumers, and sucking as much blood as the possibly can to make sure the poor stay poor.
bend over, grab your ankles, put a ratty old leather work glove in your mouth and bite down as hard as you can without screaming, if at all humanly possible. when it's over, "come see us again, you're still able to get your butt in here." with FICO's mentality, everybody is damned to hell's most forlorn grotto, until we prove ourselves saintly. even catholic clergymen ask forgiveness when it's over-- you won't get that out of any taxing authority or {UN} fair, isaac.
while this scenario may more commonly be played out upon lower income consumers, middle class and even well-to-doers are by no means exempt, as my case in point clearly illustrates. all it takes to get shafted is to demonstrate some unconventional spirit of an entreprenurial endeavour, work too hard, and find yourself at the wrong urinal in the wrong restroom when big brother's quakware rape geek walks in. he even provides freshly updated bummwadd from {UN} fair isaac's website to chew on as he does his filthy business on us, for $12.95. should we consider ourselves lucky?; zut-alors, this is Lifesucks 101a in 21st century amerika. in most parts of the world, death is usully part of a bargain never made. rarely do victims live to speak of such things. i'll take my wonderful c- in economics 101a from harvard university any day-- had i known what this was leading up to, i would have flunked the damn class on purpose, then applied for an executive position at FICO USA, san rafael, CA.
i'll post more as anything useful and constructive crosses my path.
bon courage-- languages, at least, don't force failure upon those willing to learn from past and present, and who seek to improve their own lots in life, and help others along the way whenever an opportunity is present. thanks again, christine, for this forum and my chance to be heard here. i doubt very much that real Powers- That-Be will allow your great efforts to come to naught. have a few big dougg flavored hugggs, too--:)*
