View Full Version : Mortgage, foreclosure, BK papers
creditone
We filed Chapter 7 two yrs ago. (we had the mistack of putting our house in the BK, because our laywers told us to.) We did get that off the credit B (all three) with the help of a credit repair company.
We are going to apply for a mortgage, when it dawned on me, I will have to send the mortgage company the discharge papers. Which will have the foreclosure in it.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? I am heartbroken, I thought for sure we could do this, this time.
Thanks
Christine
You don't need to supply the discharge papers, nor should they say anything about a foreclosure.

Could you please tell me what you mean by the 'Discharge Papers". I received a discharge notice - but it just stated that I was granted a discharge and listed the date, judge, etc... but it did not list any specific creditors. My schedule F did, ofcourse, but nothing in the discharge notice.
Am I missing documents? Do some states do it differently?
Thanks!

Your discharge papers don't show the listing of creditors one by one, thats only on your schedules. The one-pager you rec'vd is your discharge. So I don't think you need to worry regarding the mortgage. If it's not being reported on your credit files, how will they know unless you tell them?
I'm curious - what credit repair company was able to get this off your report? (if you don't mind sharing, can you send me a private message with this info?)

Mittleman - the paper you rec'vd is your discharge - this is "the magic paper" that proves your free of your debts. Make lots of copies and keep in a safe place. You will need this paper over and over once you start rebuilding.

They are called Bradley and Ross. They are a lawyer firm. We went with them after going to a seminar on credit after bankruptcy, with Stephen Snyder. It is a great place to start.
Thanks for all the info!

So they were able to get your bankruptcy off your reports? How long after were they able to do this? I noted they are a bit expensive @ 70 per/month but if they could do this I'd pay in a second!
creditone
Yes, we have it off of one report. We had also gone with a cheaper company, @ 35.00 a month, what a joke! They didn't even send off any letters until 3 months after returning our CRs. We went with them in Feb and our just NOW getting our first reports in, so we are going back with Bradley Ross. We had a pretty bad report, and they say to give it a yr to be completely bad credit free. They are more, but well worth it.
Christine
Creditone, please POST exactly what they do, each dispute letter, so that we can all benefit.

I have no idea what they do, I send them 70.00 a month, give them all three credit reports, I send them back in when I get them from the CBs.

So they handle this the same way as Lexington? Never send copies of the letters sent on your hehalf? That would make me nervous, you would want to know what's being sent out on your behalf? (At least I'd want to know!) Do you receive any kind of follow up info other than your credit reports every few months?
Christine
They couldn't PAY me to let them mess up my reports.

I have been with them in the past for over a yr, we had one chapter 7 removed, 16 neg on my husbands and 21 off mine, i don't see that as really messing it up?

Hi Creditone-have exchanged emails with Mr. Snyder who recommended Bradley Ross. I just want to double check with you that they are OK because yes, the cost is a bit steep especially being post bankruptcy (discharged 4/29) and they want to see credit reports that have the FICO on them.
I emailed the firm and also downloaded the necessary forms. Guess I just need a little encouragement before putting up the $$. I do feel uncomfortable not knowing what letters they send out but it does seem they get results. Must be some magic formula ;) And, one can unsubscribe from their service at any time, I understand.
Thanks in advance. It sounds like you have made out quite well in your dealings with them. Right now, after having dealt with some of the most awful people in the finance/credit world, I am extremely paranoid.
Christine, seems you don't feel quite the same about them. Right now, I'm just so confused and don't want to make a mistake. Heaven knows we've made enough of them in the past by trusting the wrong lenders.

Well, I really don't want to know what they say on my behalf, doesn't that protect me in a way? If they get the job done who cares? I worked like I said with the jerks at Lex law firm, they took 4 months to even send anything out to the CBs. I never have gotten one report in, that was done in Feb, sure they are 35.00 a month, but nothing like B&R! They were always in every 2 months. They did it fast! I was with them for about a yr and several months, we are going with them again.
Besides, Stephen Snyder has been on the up and up, and has been great since we had to file, everything in his book and in his seminars have been a God sent!

Thanks for replying. Well, I guess we can always try them for a month or two and if not satisfied can just stop their services.
Mr. Snyder said they did wonders for him. Actually, when we filed BK and went over the credit reports, we ourselves found a huge number of errors and successfully had them deleted. Except for one store, which insists the account is correct. It isn't, it belongs to my hubby's father, we know that 100% but they keep insisting it belongs there.
And when Household did not answer the credit bureau's inquiries, their accounts were deleted. So in some cases, the bureaus do get pretty angry if a creditor refuses to respond and just takes action on their own.
Am anxious to see what our new reports look like. Should prove very interesting as Household has given us a lot of grief before and it wouldn't surprise me to see them launch a personal vendetta against us.
Thanks--they sound worth a try! I'm glad things are working out for you.

In light of these discussions and advertisements for scummy credit repair law firms, decided to close the forum again.
Good luck everybody, I'm done.
