Ok I have seen enough abuse by this company to make me sick. This is what I am gonna do. Email me at picantel4343@hotmail.com and put CAMCO in your title. Include your name, address, and phone. Write a brief letter citing what camco did i.e. before 8 phone calls, threatening your children, saying you will go to jail, threatening to sue you, ect. You do not need to quote statutes. Be sure to include the name of Camco in the letter. I am gonna spend the next couple months at all the forums gathering proof and when I have about 100 letters I will make copies at my own expense and swamp the illinois attorney general, all the lawmakers in the state of illinois, the rockford mayor, the BBB, and the FTC. It is better if they get swamped at one time so they will listen.

Christine
I have NO idea who Camco is, but chances are they'll listen when they get served.

camco = capital acquisitions. they just bought a ton of SOL debts. From what I have seen on different forums they go as far back as 1980. Then they tried and add interest and you know the drill- like original $1000 but they want $26000. They call people at 5 in the morning, tell their children their parents will go to jail if they do not pay, and other bogus crap. They are also filing suits against people and having them seved at addresses they have been moved out of a decade ago. IT is working because all their judgements are default. they should be thrown in jail.

How can they be properly served if they are not at the address anymore??

The courts have strict rules for civil process serving.

I'm wondering about that too - but I read about judgments obtained without serving all the time.

I saw on another board that camco is trying to collect from this guy and his wife a debt from 1989. The problem is the debt was discharged through BK in 1992. He is getting a lawyer and will be going after them in federal court. Trying to collect on a BK debt is a federal case and the fines are enormous. I hope he goes through with the whole thing and nails em.

Christine
I hope he goes through with it too, but I don't know about "the fines are enormous" since I've yet to see any creditor pay ANYTHING for violating the discharge order.

It's always a "clerical mistake."

picantel
The collector was calling for the guys wife. the guy told him it was discharged in BK. The collector then turned around and called the guys wife to collect on it. I hope they can explain that.

Christine
I just hope those calls were recorded!
