Christine:

I think I remember reading once a letter your forwarded to an attorney's office who was attempting to collect on a debt which had either been deleted from your credit report or you had sued. I can't remember much detail other than your letter was well written. You asked the collection attorney if the original creditor had provided him with the previous disputes, law suits, original file ...etc. If you recall this will you please provide the link?

Also, my situation is I just rec'd a letter from an attorney attempting to collect on account which was deleted from my account. My TU report dated 6/2000 shows this account as being charged off as a bad debt on 2/1996; account opened 1994; closed 2/1996. I am certain the SOL has expired as Virginia is 5 years. It looks as if this company has purchased the account. Last thing I want is for htis to reappear on my credit report. BTW if it were to reappear what do they have to show as DOL?

The date of the charge-off, see item 6:

My only collection was American Agency and that suit and all my correspondence is published at CreditCourt. They never had an attorney collect, you might be talking about my letter to them. Have a look at http://forum.creditcourt.com/discus/messages/132/132.html
